Nice and friendly
The aircondition was placed on th wrong spot in the room
Loved the blue floral carpet,100% better than some modern hotels with dull looking carpet that does nothing for it. Service- my bag was taken down even though he had to leave office unattended. Had early morning departure and had breakfast bought up to room, was still a lovely breakfast but was looking forward to going to it. All were friendly. Didnt have far to walk to find a lovely little Miss Maud pastry shop.
Only one complain- when I checked in the lady swiped my card and I actually thought she was taking $99 out,but when I went to check out he asked if I had paid and I said yes but he couldnt find it,he asked if I swiped it I said no and showed him the machine she used- it turned out they hadnt charged my card, it acted as a deposit in case of damage. I was disappointed at that stage cause it should have been explained what was happening. But other than that I was happy.
Swedish decor was very appealing and the open buffet for complimentary breakfast was a real treat. The roof garden outdoor patio is also a very nice place to relax (especially on spring days I imagine!) away from the bustle of the city streets.
Housekeeping knocked and opened door just before 9am on a Sunday - no big deal really but I didn't expect room service before close of breakfast period. Would be nice one day to also have access to a secure parking facility for rental vehicle.
Rooms were basic but comfortable. The breakfast was great, the smorgasboard dinner was the best I have had.
Wonderful decor and ambience
Little old and creaky, but added to the ambience
Cosy twin room Good breakfast
The club opposite to the hotel, problems with taxis when leaving for the airport at 5 am.
It is refreshingly different from homogenised, "Americanised", could-be-anywhere hotels, and its central location is a huge advantage. Its buffet-style breakfasts and dinners are excellent, and I applaud its policy of including a full breakfast in the price of a room.
More attention could be paid to the needs of elderly and/ or disabled clients, e.g. in terms of baggage handling and, more importantly, making showers safer by fitting solid hand grips and providing non-slip mats.
The hotel had a warm and friendly atmosphere the breakfast was out of this world, and the location to everything we needed was fantastic
Clean, comfortable, low key
Noise from the hotel guests across road.
Our stay was very relaxing good location for walking into the city. The buffet dinner and breakfast was excellent. Very quiet especially for the location.
The only let down was the parking having to run out at 8am to move the car needs to be a better solution. You can park in the public car park at $32.00 over night (expensive) but it is locked at 12pm.
The room was spacious, clean and very comfortable
The room airconditioning was somewhat noisy. The lift was antiquated and din't go to all areas - there were stairs both from the lobby and also within each floor which made it difficult for elderly traveller
Room was clean neat and tidy Breakfast was excellent and fresh
Parking across the road very expensive some $35 for the night. The Mercure up the road always gave a rebate or discount for parking.
- Very convenient location - european style look and atmosphere - delicious food and enormous breakfast buffet - staff at the reception very friendly and helpful
- Just one very slow elevator - squeaking floors in the rooms, could hear people walk around on upper floor
could not fault the excellent staff, just lovely!
Another towel would have been handy.
I like the location at the center of town, near shopping center, restaurant especially for moslem/non moslem travellers, city transportation.
The room too small not the same as the brochures/internet, lobby too small, the elevator/lift too small and very old type (could be 1930's model), the gangway using stair so dificult to bring big luggage. the photo internet couldn't see the elevator and lobby.
